Plastic Waste Collection and Vegetable Seed Distribution Activity Held at Kamarjani Bazar

A unique initiative was undertaken at Kamarjani Bazar in Kamarjani Union of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila to promote plastic waste management and environmental awareness. The activity was carried out on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, in the afternoon.

As part of the program, waste collection baskets and various types of vegetable seeds were distributed to 10 shops in the market. These shops have been designated as plastic collection points, where local people can deposit used plastic bottles. The organizers stated that the collected plastic bottles will be consolidated and managed in an environmentally responsible manner.

In addition, awareness campaigns were conducted in the market area and along the nearby riverbank to discourage indiscriminate disposal of plastic waste. Volunteers interacted directly with the general public, highlighting the harmful impacts of plastic pollution and encouraging people to develop the habit of disposing plastic waste at designated locations.

The program was organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha, co-organized by the National Youth Forum (NYF), with support from Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Bangladesh. According to the organizers, this initiative will gradually help establish a sustainable market-based waste management system and promote environmentally friendly behavior among the local community.


কামারজানি বাজারে প্লাস্টিক বর্জ্য সংগ্রহ ও সবজি বীজ বিতরণ কার্যক্রম

গাইবান্ধা সদর উপজেলার কামারজানি ইউনিয়নের কামারজানি বাজার এলাকায় প্লাস্টিক বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা ও পরিবেশ সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে একটি ব্যতিক্রমী উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। বুধবার, ৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৬ দুপুরে এই কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হয়।

কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে বাজারের ১০টি দোকানে বর্জ্য সংগ্রহের ঝুড়ি ও বিভিন্ন প্রকার সবজি বীজ বিতরণ করা হয়। এসব দোকানকে নির্দিষ্ট প্লাস্টিক সংগ্রহকেন্দ্র হিসেবে নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে, যেখানে স্থানীয় জনগণ ব্যবহৃত প্লাস্টিক বোতল জমা দিতে পারবেন। আয়োজকরা জানান, সংগৃহীত প্লাস্টিক বোতলগুলো একত্র করে পরিবেশসম্মত উপায়ে ব্যবস্থাপনার আওতায় আনা হবে।

এছাড়াও বাজার এলাকা ও নদীর তীরবর্তী স্থানে যত্রতত্র প্লাস্টিক বর্জ্য না ফেলে নির্দিষ্ট স্থানে রাখার বিষয়ে সচেতনতামূলক প্রচারণা চালানো হয়। স্বেচ্ছাসেবকরা সাধারণ মানুষের সঙ্গে সরাসরি কথা বলে প্লাস্টিক দূষণের ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব তুলে ধরেন এবং প্লাস্টিকজাত বর্জ্য নির্ধারিত স্থানে রাখার অভ্যাস গড়ে তোলার আহ্বান জানান।

এই কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা, সহ-আয়োজক হিসেবে যুক্ত ছিল ন্যাশনাল ইয়ুথ ফোরাম (NYF) এবং সহযোগিতায় ছিল Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Bangladesh। আয়োজকদের মতে, এই উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে বাজারভিত্তিক বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনার একটি টেকসই কাঠামো গড়ে উঠবে এবং সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যে পরিবেশবান্ধব আচরণ ও সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি পাবে।
