Reception for SSC Scholarship and GPA-5 Achievers in Gaibandha
One student came several kilometers on his father’s old bicycle. In someone’s eyes there were dreams of the future, on someone’s face there was a smile of pride. Another said, “Today’s scholarship feels like a blessing in our lives.” Thus, Thursday afternoon became a very special day of joy for Gaibandha’s brilliant students.
With the slogan “Let talent shine, let courage build dreams,” on Thursday afternoon at the Philosophy Department’s conference hall of Gaibandha Government College, SSC scholarship and GPA-5 achievers were given a reception. At this modest event, students were awarded scholarships, crests, certificates, and gift items.
The event was organized and sponsored by Su-Palace, Srijonshil Gaibandha, Fashion Palace, and Boi Ghor Pathagar. The chief guest was Professor Khalilur Rahman, former Principal of Gaibandha Government College. The program was presided over by Abul Hossain Sohag Mridha, proprietor of Su-Palace and Fashion Palace, and Director of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speakers included Masudur Rahman, Secretary of the Teachers’ Council of Gaibandha Government College; Dr. Anicha Akhter Begum Chowdhury, Head of the Department of Philosophy; Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Associate Professor of Islamic History and Culture; Lecturer Rashed Mia; Associate Professor A.B.M. Jillur Rahman; Shahabul Shahin Tota, representative of Prothom Alo; photographer Kuddus Alam of Focus Bangla; Nishad Babu of Srijonshil Gaibandha, among others. The event was conducted by Md. Mehedi Hasan, Founder and President of Srijonshil Gaibandha and Boi Ghor Pathagar.
Brilliant student Milon Mia said, “Today’s reception is not only joy for us, but also a source of inspiration. We pledge that in the future we will achieve even better results and make the country proud.”
A guardian said, “Even though we are poor, today’s scholarship has come as a blessing in the path of our children’s education.” Speakers remarked that lack of money is not a barrier to education. If there is effort, someone in society will always extend a helping hand. They urged students to become highly educated and work for the welfare of the nation.
Abul Hossain Sohag Mridha, proprietor of Su-Palace, said, “We want no meritorious student of Gaibandha to be deprived of the light of education due to poverty. That is why, for the second time, scholarships are being provided to poor and meritorious GPA-5 students. This initiative will continue in the future.”
Md. Mehedi Hasan, Founder and President of Srijonshil Gaibandha and Boi Ghor Pathagar, said, “Our goal is that no meritorious student should drop out due to financial hardship. Today’s reception is part of that ongoing initiative. We expect that students will not only achieve good results but also grow into responsible citizens of society.”
As in previous years, scholarships were awarded to underprivileged, disadvantaged, marginalized, and differently-abled students of the district. From the remote areas of seven upazilas of the district, 50 selected students received cash scholarships, crests, certificates, and gift items.
গাইবান্ধায় এসএসসি শিক্ষা বৃত্তি ও জিপিএ-৫ কৃতি শিক্ষার্থী সংবর্ধনা
বাবার পুরোনো সাইকেলেই কয়েক কিলোমিটার পথ পাড়ি দিয়ে এসেছিল এক শিক্ষার্থী। কারও চোখে ছিল ভবিষ্যতের স্বপ্ন, কারও মুখে গর্বের হাসি। আবার কেউ বলল, “আজকের এই বৃত্তি আমাদের জীবনে আশীর্বাদের মতো।” গাইবান্ধার কৃতি শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য বৃহস্পতিবারের বিকেলটা তাই হয়ে উঠেছিল এক অন্যরকম আনন্দের দিন।
‘আলো ছড়াক মেধা, স্বপ্ন গড়ুক সাহস’ এই স্লোগান নিয়ে বৃহস্পতিবার বিকেলে গাইবান্ধা সরকারি কলেজের দর্শন বিভাগের সম্মেলন কক্ষে এসএসসি শিক্ষা বৃত্তি ও জিপিএ-৫ প্রাপ্ত শিক্ষার্থীদের দেওয়া হলো সংবর্ধনা। অনাড়ম্বর এই অনুষ্ঠানে শিক্ষার্থীদের হাতে বৃত্তি, ক্রেস্ট, সনদপত্র ও উপহার সামগ্রী তুলে দেওয়া হয়।
অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজনে ও পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় ছিল সু-প্যালেস, সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা, ফ্যাশন প্যালেস ও বই ঘর পাঠাগার। এতে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন গাইবান্ধা সরকারি কলেজের সাবেক অধ্যক্ষ প্রফেসর খলিলুর রহমান। এতে সভাপতিত্ব করেন সু-প্যালেস ও ফ্যাশন প্যালেসের স্বত্বাধিকারী এবং গাইবান্ধা চেম্বার অব কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রির পরিচালক আবুল হোসেন সোহাগ মৃধা।
বক্তব্য দেন গাইবান্ধা সরকারি কলেজের শিক্ষক পরিষদের সম্পাদক মাসুদুর রহমান, দর্শন বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান আনিছা আখতার বেগম চৌধুরী, ইসলামের ইতিহাস ও সংস্কৃতি বিভাগের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ড. মোহাম্মদ মিজানুর রহমান, প্রভাষক রাশেদ মিয়া, সহযোগী অধ্যাপক এ.বি.এম জিল্লুর রহমান, প্রথম আলোর প্রতিনিধি শাহাবুল শাহীন তোতা, ফোকাস বাংলার ফটোগ্রাফার কুদ্দুস আলম, সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার নিশাদ বাবু প্রমুখ । অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা ও বই ঘর পাঠাগারের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সভাপতি মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান।
কৃতি শিক্ষার্থী মিলন মিয়া জানায়, “আজকের এই সংবর্ধনা আমাদের জন্য শুধু আনন্দ নয়, বরং প্রেরণার উৎস। আমরা প্রতিজ্ঞা করছি, ভবিষ্যতে আরও ভালো ফল করে দেশকে গর্বিত করব।”
এক অভিভাবক জানান, “আমরা গরীব হলেও আজকের এই বৃত্তি আমাদের সন্তানদের শিক্ষার পথে আশীর্বাদ হয়ে এসেছে।” বক্তারা বলেন, অর্থের অভাব শিক্ষার পথে বাধা নয়। চেষ্টা থাকলে সমাজের কেউ না কেউ সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দেবে। তারা শিক্ষার্থীদের উচ্চশিক্ষিত হয়ে দেশ ও জাতির কল্যাণে কাজ করার আহ্বান জানান।
সু-প্যালেসের স্বত্বাধিকারী আবুল হোসেন সোহাগ মৃধা বলেন, “আমরা চাই, গাইবান্ধার কোনো মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী যেন অভাবের কারণে শিক্ষার আলো থেকে বঞ্চিত না হয়। তাই এবার দ্বিতীয়বারের মতো জিপিএ-৫ প্রাপ্ত গরীব ও মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থীদের শিক্ষা বৃত্তি প্রদান করা হলো। ভবিষ্যতেও এ কার্যক্রম চলমান থাকবে।”
সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা ও বই ঘর পাঠাগারের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সভাপতি মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান বলেন, “আমাদের লক্ষ্য কোনো মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী যেন অর্থের অভাবে ঝরে না পড়ে। আজকের সংবর্ধনা সেই উদ্যোগের ধারাবাহিকতা। শিক্ষার্থীরা শুধু ভালো ফলই করবে না, বরং সমাজের প্রতি দায়িত্বশীল নাগরিক হিসেবেও গড়ে উঠবে এটাই আমাদের প্রত্যাশা।”
প্রতিবছরের মতো এবারও জেলার অচ্ছল, সুবিধাবঞ্চিত, প্রান্তিক ও প্রতিবন্ধী শিক্ষার্থীদের বৃত্তি প্রদান করা হয়। জেলার সাতটি উপজেলার প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চল থেকে নির্বাচিত ৫০ জন শিক্ষার্থীকে নগদ অর্থ, ক্রেস্ট, সনদপত্র ও উপহার সামগ্রী দেওয়া হয়েছে।
