Green Products Market Organized by Youth in Gaibandha

A unique initiative has been organized in Gaibandha with the aim of promoting the use of environmentally friendly products and building a sustainable economy through youth leadership under the project titled “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovations for a Flood-Resilient Green Economy.”

The event titled “Local Green Market Stalls and Product Selling” was held on Sunday (15 March) in Kamarjani, Gaibandha. In the event, local young entrepreneurs displayed and sold their environmentally friendly and sustainable products.

The program was organized by the voluntary organization Srijonshil Gaibandha. The National Youth Forum was the co-organizer, and VSO Bangladesh provided overall support.

Earlier under the project, 12 types of vegetable seeds were distributed among local youth. These included seeds of red spinach, Malabar spinach, stem amaranth, green leafy vegetables, tomato, bitter gourd, and several other vegetables. The Green Market was organized using the fresh vegetables and eco-friendly agricultural products produced from those seeds.

The main objective of this initiative is to encourage local young entrepreneurs to produce and market environmentally friendly products, reduce the use of plastic, promote sustainable lifestyles, and strengthen the concept of a green economy in flood-prone areas.

President of Srijonshil Gaibandha, Md. Mehedi Hasan, said, “Our goal is to utilize the innovative power of youth to build an environmentally friendly and sustainable economy in Gaibandha. By working with local entrepreneurs, we are trying to increase the use of green products and create environmental awareness.”

Vegetable entrepreneur Rupali Rani said, “Such initiatives are very helpful for small entrepreneurs like us. Here we have the opportunity to sell our fresh vegetables and eco-friendly products directly to people.”

Representatives from various social organizations, local entrepreneurs, volunteers, and young people participated in the event.

Participants stated that such initiatives play an important role in increasing environmental awareness at the local level and engaging youth in economic activities.

Among those present were President of Srijonshil Gaibandha Md. Mehedi Hasan, Project Officer Athar Mihda Tuba, Accounts Officer Ranjan Debnath, Executive Member Naosha Mia, and member of Brotherhood Kamarjani organization Shahin Sarkar, among others.

The organizers expressed hope that through such green initiatives in the future, environmental protection, promotion of sustainable lifestyles, and the development of local entrepreneurs will continue.


গাইবান্ধায় তরুণদের উদ্যোগে সবুজ পণ্যের বাজার

গাইবান্ধায় তরুণদের উদ্যোগে পরিবেশবান্ধব পণ্যের ব্যবহার ও টেকসই অর্থনীতি গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে ‘গাইবান্ধা ইকোসাইকেল: বন্যা সহনশীল সবুজ অর্থনীতির জন্য তরুণদের উদ্ভাবন’ প্রকল্পের আওতায় একটি ব্যতিক্রমধর্মী কার্যক্রম অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।


রোববার (১৫ মার্চ) গাইবান্ধার কামারজানিতে ‘লোকাল গ্রিন মার্কেট স্টলস অ্যান্ড প্রোডাক্ট সেলিং’ শীর্ষক এই আয়োজন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে স্থানীয় তরুণ উদ্যোক্তারা তাদের পরিবেশবান্ধব ও টেকসই পণ্য প্রদর্শন ও বিক্রি করেন।


অনুষ্ঠানটির আয়োজন করে স্বেচ্ছাসেবী সংগঠন সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা। সহ-আয়োজক হিসেবে ছিল ন্যাশনাল ইয়ুথ ফোরাম এবং সার্বিক সহযোগিতায় ছিল ভিএসও বাংলাদেশ।


প্রকল্পের আওতায় পূর্বে স্থানীয় তরুণদের মাঝে ১২ প্রকার সবজি বীজ বিতরণ করা হয়। এর মধ্যে ছিল লালশাক, পুঁইশাক, ডাটা শাক, সবুজ শাক, টমেটো, করলা সহ বিভিন্ন সবজির বীজ। সেই বীজ থেকে উৎপাদিত তাজা সবজি ও পরিবেশবান্ধব কৃষিপণ্য দিয়েই এই গ্রিন মার্কেটের আয়োজন করা হয়।

এ উদ্যোগের মূল লক্ষ্য হলো স্থানীয় তরুণ উদ্যোক্তাদের পরিবেশবান্ধব পণ্য উৎপাদন ও বিপণনে উৎসাহিত করা, প্লাস্টিকের ব্যবহার কমানো, টেকসই জীবনধারা প্রচার করা এবং বন্যাপ্রবণ অঞ্চলে সবুজ অর্থনীতির ধারণা শক্তিশালী করা।

সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার সভাপতি মো. মেহেদী হাসান বলেন, ‘আমাদের লক্ষ্য হলো তরুণদের উদ্ভাবনী শক্তিকে কাজে লাগিয়ে গাইবান্ধায় একটি পরিবেশবান্ধব ও টেকসই অর্থনীতি গড়ে তোলা। স্থানীয় উদ্যোক্তাদের সঙ্গে কাজ করে আমরা সবুজ পণ্যের ব্যবহার বৃদ্ধি এবং পরিবেশ সচেতনতা তৈরির চেষ্টা করছি।’


সবজি উদ্যোক্তা রুপালি রানী বলেন, ‘এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ আমাদের মতো ক্ষুদ্র উদ্যোক্তাদের জন্য অত্যন্ত সহায়ক। এখানে আমরা আমাদের উৎপাদিত তাজা সবজি ও পরিবেশবান্ধব পণ্য সরাসরি মানুষের কাছে বিক্রি করার সুযোগ পেয়েছি।’

অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন সামাজিক সংগঠনের প্রতিনিধি, স্থানীয় উদ্যোক্তা, স্বেচ্ছাসেবক ও তরুণরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

অংশগ্রহণকারীরা জানান, এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে পরিবেশ সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং তরুণদের অর্থনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ডে সম্পৃক্ত করতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখে।

এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার সভাপতি মো. মেহেদী হাসান, প্রকল্প কর্মকর্তা আতহার মিহদা তুবা, হিসাব কর্মকর্তা রঞ্জন দেবনাথ, কার্যনির্বাহী সদস্য নওশা মিয়া, ব্রাদারহুড কামারজানী সংগঠনের সদস্য শাহিন সরকার প্রমুখ।

আয়োজকরা আশা প্রকাশ করেন, ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের সবুজ উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ, টেকসই জীবনধারা প্রচার এবং স্থানীয় উদ্যোক্তাদের উন্নয়ন অব্যাহত থাকবে।
