World Book Day Celebrated with Reading Circle and Book Discussion at Gaibandha Government College

On the occasion of World Book Day, a reading circle and book discussion session was held at the field of Gaibandha Government College, organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation and Boi Ghor Library. The event took place on Thursday (April 23) at 1:00 PM, with participation from book-loving students, teachers, and members of the organization.

Among those present were Advisor of Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation and Associate Professor of the Philosophy Department at Gaibandha Government College, A.B.M. Zillur Rahman; Founder and President of the organization, Md. Mehedi Hasan; Project Officer Athar Mihda Tuba; Accounts Assistant Ranjan Debnath; along with students from various departments.

Advisor A.B.M. Zillur Rahman spoke at the event. He said, “Books expand a person’s perspective, enrich the world of thought, and open new windows to understand the world. Books are not only a medium of acquiring knowledge, but they also make people humane and enlightened. The present generation must reduce dependence on mobile devices and turn towards books.”

Founder and President of Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation, Md. Mehedi Hasan, said, “World Book Day reminds us that books are the greatest assets of civilization. A good book can change a person’s life. To develop reading habits among young people, it is essential to create a regular environment for reading circles, book discussions, and literary practices. Srijonshil Gaibandha will always continue working towards building a knowledge-based society.”

Participants in the event discussed their favorite books, shared reading experiences, and expressed their commitment to continuing regular reading circles. Attendees believe that such an initiative on World Book Day will play a significant role in increasing students’ interest in reading.

বিশ্ব বই দিবস উদযাপন ও গাইবান্ধা সরকারি কলেজে পাঠচক্র-বই আড্ডা অনুষ্ঠিত

বিশ্ব বই দিবস উপলক্ষে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা ফাউন্ডেশন ও বই ঘর পাঠাগারের উদ্যোগে গাইবান্ধা সরকারি কলেজ ক্যাম্পাস মাঠে পাঠচক্র ও বই আড্ডা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। বৃহস্পতিবার (২৩ এপ্রিল) দুপুর ১টায় আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে বইপ্রেমী শিক্ষার্থী, শিক্ষক ও সংগঠনের সদস্যরা অংশ নেন।

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা ফাউন্ডেশনের উপদেষ্টা ও গাইবান্ধা সরকারি কলেজের দর্শন বিভাগের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক এ বি এম জিল্লুর রহমান, সংগঠনের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও সভাপতি মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান, প্রজেক্ট অফিসার আত্হার মিহদা তুবা, হিসাব সহকারী রঞ্জন দেবনাথসহ বিভিন্ন বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থীরা।

অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখেন উপদেষ্টা এ বি এম জিল্লুর রহমান। তিনি বলেন, “বই মানুষের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিকে প্রসারিত করে, চিন্তার জগৎকে সমৃদ্ধ করে এবং বিশ্বকে জানার নতুন জানালা খুলে দেয়। বই শুধু জ্ঞানার্জনের মাধ্যম নয়, এটি মানুষকে মানবিক ও আলোকিত করে তোলে। বর্তমান প্রজন্মকে মোবাইল নির্ভরতা কমিয়ে বইমুখী হতে হবে।”

সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও সভাপতি মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান বলেন, “বিশ্ব বই দিবস আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয়, বই হচ্ছে সভ্যতার শ্রেষ্ঠ সম্পদ। একটি ভালো বই একজন মানুষের জীবন বদলে দিতে পারে। তরুণদের মাঝে পাঠাভ্যাস গড়ে তুলতে নিয়মিত পাঠচক্র, বই আড্ডা ও সাহিত্যচর্চার পরিবেশ তৈরি করা জরুরি। সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা সবসময় জ্ঞানভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠনে কাজ করে যাবে।”

অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা প্রিয় বই নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন, পাঠ অভিজ্ঞতা ভাগাভাগি করেন এবং নিয়মিত পাঠচক্র চালিয়ে যাওয়ার প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করেন। বিশ্ব বই দিবসের এ আয়োজন শিক্ষার্থীদের মাঝে বই পড়ার আগ্রহ বাড়াতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে মনে করেন উপস্থিতরা।
