Compost Production Initiative under EcoCycle Project in Gaibandha
A Step Forward Towards Building a Flood-Resilient Green Economy through Youth Engagement

With the goal of promoting environmentally friendly agriculture and building a sustainable economy in Gaibandha, a compost production activity has been successfully implemented under the project titled “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Flood-Resilient Green Economy.”

As part of the project, organic compost was prepared at three locations in the Kamarjani area of Gaibandha. The process of producing eco-friendly organic fertilizer using cow dung and earthworms was demonstrated in practice with the active participation of local youth volunteers and farmers, enabling them to easily replicate the method in their own communities.

This organic fertilizer enhances soil fertility, reduces dependency on chemical fertilizers, and plays a vital role in environmental conservation. Such initiatives are especially effective for flood-prone areas like Gaibandha, contributing significantly to sustainable agricultural development and the establishment of a green economy.

The program was organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha, co-organized by NYF, and supported by the international development organization VSO Bangladesh.

Engaging youth in such eco-friendly initiatives will play a crucial role in building a sustainable and flood-resilient future in Gaibandha. It is hoped that similar activities will continue in the future.

গাইবান্ধায় পরিবেশবান্ধব কৃষি ও টেকসই অর্থনীতি গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Flood-Resilient Green Economy” প্রকল্পের আওতায় কমপোস্ট সার তৈরির একটি কার্যক্রম সফলভাবে বাস্তবায়ন করা হয়েছে।

প্রকল্পের অংশ হিসেবে গাইবান্ধার কামারজানি এলাকায় তিনটি স্থানে জৈব কমপোস্ট সার প্রস্তুত করা হয়। গরুর গোবর ও কেঁচোর মাধ্যমে পরিবেশবান্ধব জৈব সার উৎপাদনের প্রক্রিয়াটি স্থানীয় তরুণ স্বেচ্ছাসেবক ও কৃষকদের অংশগ্রহণে সরাসরি প্রদর্শন করা হয়, যাতে তারা নিজ নিজ এলাকায় সহজেই এই পদ্ধতি অনুসরণ করতে পারেন।

এই জৈব সার মাটির উর্বরতা বৃদ্ধি করে, রাসায়নিক সারের ব্যবহার কমায় এবং পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখে।
বিশেষ করে বন্যাপ্রবণ গাইবান্ধার জন্য এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ কৃষির টেকসই উন্নয়ন এবং সবুজ অর্থনীতি গড়ে তোলার ক্ষেত্রে অত্যন্ত কার্যকর।

এই কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা। সহ-আয়োজক হিসেবে ছিল এনওয়াইএফ, এবং সার্বিক সহযোগিতা প্রদান করেছে আন্তর্জাতিক উন্নয়ন সংস্থা ভিএসএ বাংলাদেশ।

তরুণদের সম্পৃক্ত করে এমন পরিবেশবান্ধব উদ্যোগ গাইবান্ধায় একটি টেকসই ও বন্যা সহনশীল ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ার পথে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে। ভবিষ্যতেও এই ধরনের কার্যক্রম অব্যাহত থাকবে এই প্রত্যাশা সবার।
