Inclusive Youth Group for Persons with Disabilities Formed in Gaibandha

24 February: With the vision of building an inclusive society based on equality, participation, and human values, an awareness and organizational development program titled “Formation of Disability-Inclusive Youth Group” was held in Gaibandha. The program was organized under the initiative “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Green Economy.”

The event took place in Rahmatpur area of the district town, where local students, young volunteers, youth representatives, and children and adolescents with disabilities actively participated. The main objective of the program was to integrate persons with disabilities into mainstream society, raise awareness about their rights, and ensure equal participation in education, leadership, and social activities.

Speakers at the event emphasized that sustainable and humane development cannot be achieved by leaving anyone behind. They highlighted the importance of recognizing the abilities and potential of persons with disabilities and creating a supportive and enabling environment for them. They also stated that youth can play a vital role in raising awareness, eliminating misconceptions, and establishing a discrimination-free society.

Under the slogan “No one will be left behind; we will build a society of equality,” participants displayed placards and called for empathy, equal rights, and inclusive development for persons with disabilities.

As part of the program, a Disability-Inclusive Youth Group was officially formed. The newly formed group will work on awareness campaigns, skill development initiatives, and strengthening social inclusion in the future.

The program was organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha, co-organized by National Youth Forum Bangladesh, and supported by VSO Bangladesh. The organizers expressed their commitment to continuing such inclusive initiatives in various educational institutions and communities across the district in the future.

২৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি: সমতা, অংশগ্রহণ ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধের ভিত্তিতে একটি অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক সমাজ গড়ার লক্ষ্যে গাইবান্ধায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “প্রতিবন্ধী অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক যুব গ্রুপ গঠন” শীর্ষক এক সচেতনতামূলক ও সংগঠন গঠন কর্মসূচি। “গাইবান্ধা ইকোসাইকেল: সবুজ অর্থনীতির জন্য যুব উদ্ভাবন” উদ্যোগের আওতায় এ কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়।

জেলা শহরের রহমতপুরে আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে স্থানীয় শিক্ষার্থী, তরুণ স্বেচ্ছাসেবক, যুব প্রতিনিধি এবং প্রতিবন্ধী শিশু-কিশোররা স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। কর্মসূচির মূল উদ্দেশ্য ছিল প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের সমাজের মূলধারায় সম্পৃক্ত করা, তাদের অধিকার সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং শিক্ষা, নেতৃত্ব ও সামাজিক কার্যক্রমে সমান অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করা।

অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তারা বলেন, টেকসই ও মানবিক সমাজ গঠনে কাউকে পেছনে ফেলে উন্নয়ন সম্ভব নয়। প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের সক্ষমতা ও সম্ভাবনাকে গুরুত্ব দিয়ে তাদের জন্য সহায়ক পরিবেশ তৈরি করা সময়ের দাবি। তারা আরও বলেন, যুব সমাজই পারে সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি, কুসংস্কার দূরীকরণ এবং বৈষম্যহীন সমাজ প্রতিষ্ঠায় কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখতে।
“কেউ পিছিয়ে থাকবে না, সমতার সমাজ গড়বো আমরা” এই প্রতিপাদ্যকে সামনে রেখে আয়োজিত কর্মসূচিতে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা প্ল্যাকার্ড প্রদর্শন করেন এবং প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের প্রতি সহমর্মিতা, সমঅধিকার ও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক উন্নয়নের আহ্বান জানান।

কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে একটি প্রতিবন্ধী অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক যুব গ্রুপ গঠন করা হয়। নবগঠিত এ গ্রুপ ভবিষ্যতে সচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রম, দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন উদ্যোগ এবং সামাজিক সম্পৃক্ততা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে কাজ করবে।

উক্ত কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা। কো-আয়োজক হিসেবে ছিল ন্যাশনাল ইয়ুথ ফোরাম বাংলাদেশ এবং সহযোগিতায় ছিল ভিএসও বাংলাদেশ। আয়োজকরা জানান, ভবিষ্যতেও জেলার বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান ও কমিউনিটিতে এ ধরনের অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক কার্যক্রম অব্যাহত থাকবে।
