“When Illness Means a Journey of Survival: The Reality of Gaibandha’s Char Communities”

In the char areas of Gaibandha, illness means facing a harsh reality. In many places, there is still no easy transportation system or quick access to healthcare.

When someone becomes ill, family members carry them on their shoulders using bamboo and a chair, crossing rivers and sandy char lands to reach medical care. This struggle for life has become a daily reality for them.

Srijonshil Gaibandha believes that collective action is needed to change this reality.

What can we do to change this situation?
• Introduce boat ambulances for emergency patient transportation in char areas
• Improve safe river ghats and transportation routes
• Establish community health support and primary healthcare services
• Build an emergency service network through coordination between local administration and organizations

To build a humane Gaibandha, everyone needs to come forward.

গাইবান্ধার চরাঞ্চলে অসুস্থতা মানেই এক কঠিন বাস্তবতার মুখোমুখি হওয়া। এখানে এখনো অনেক জায়গায় নেই সহজ যাতায়াত ব্যবস্থা, নেই দ্রুত চিকিৎসা সেবায় পৌঁছানোর সুযোগ।

কেউ অসুস্থ হলে স্বজনরা নিজেরাই বাঁশ ও চেয়ারের সাহায্যে কাঁধে তুলে নদী ও বালুচর পেরিয়ে চিকিৎসার জন্য ছুটে চলেন। জীবনের জন্য এই সংগ্রামই যেন তাদের প্রতিদিনের বাস্তবতা।

সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা মনে করে—এই বাস্তবতা বদলাতে আমাদের সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগ প্রয়োজন।

এই বাস্তবতা বদলাতে আমরা কী করতে পারি?
• চরাঞ্চলে জরুরি রোগী পরিবহনের জন্য নৌকা অ্যাম্বুলেন্স চালু করা
• নিরাপদ ঘাট ও যাতায়াত পথ উন্নত করা
• কমিউনিটি স্বাস্থ্য সহায়তা ও প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা ব্যবস্থা গড়ে তোলা
• স্থানীয় প্রশাসন ও সংগঠনগুলোর সমন্বয়ে জরুরি সেবা নেটওয়ার্ক তৈরি করা

মানবিক গাইবান্ধা গড়তে সবাইকে এগিয়ে আসতে হবে।
চরবাসীর নিরাপদ যাতায়াত ও চিকিৎসা অধিকার নিশ্চিত করা এখন সময়ের দাবি। ✊
