“When Illness Means a Journey of Survival: The Reality of Gaibandha’s Char Communities”

In the char areas of Gaibandha, illness means facing a harsh reality. In many places, there is still no easy transportation system or quick access to healthcare. When someone becomes ill, family members carry them on their shoulders using bamboo and a chair, crossing rivers and sandy char lands to reach medical care. This struggle for life has become a daily reality for them.

In Kamarjani, Gaibandha, the Holy Qurans were distributed among orphan and Hafiz students at Abdunnasir Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage. On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM, 20 students received their copies of the Holy Quran. The initiative was organized by the youth development and volunteer organization Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation, with support from the local business Fashion Palace.

Marking the day, members of the organization gathered at 9:00 AM and placed floral wreaths in honor of the fallen heroes. During the tribute, speakers highlighted that the independence of Bangladesh was achieved through the immense sacrifice, courage, and struggle of the martyrs. Their Great sacrifice remains the foundation of our national identity and pride.

Compost Production Initiative under EcoCycle Project in Gaibandha

With the goal of promoting environmentally friendly agriculture and building a sustainable economy in Gaibandha, a compost production activity has been successfully implemented under the project titled “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Flood-Resilient Green Economy.” As part of the project, organic compost was prepared at three locations in the Kamarjani area of Gaibandha. The process of producing eco-friendly organic fertilizer using cow dung and earthworms was demonstrated in practice with the active participation of local youth volunteers and farmers, enabling them to easily replicate the method in their own communities.
