A tree plantation program was organized at Gaibandha Government College through the joint initiative of Prothom Alo Gaibandha Bondhusobha and Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation to promote environmental conservation, protect biodiversity, and raise awareness about climate change. The program was inaugurated by Professor Md. Abdur Rashid, Principal of Gaibandha Government College, who planted a medicinal tree sapling as a symbol of the campaign. He emphasized the importance of tree plantation in ensuring environmental sustainability and building a greener future for the next generation.

A protest human chain was held today in Gaibandha demanding justice for the brutal murder of child Ramisa and ensuring the safety of all children across the country. The program was jointly organized by youth organizations working for child rights in different districts of Bangladesh, including Happy Dreams Foundation, Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation, AYAS Bangladesh, Betna Youth Development Organization, Youth Mentor Group, and one of the country’s leading child organizations, the National Children’s Task Force (NCTF).

In the char areas of Gaibandha, illness means facing a harsh reality. In many places, there is still no easy transportation system or quick access to healthcare. When someone becomes ill, family members carry them on their shoulders using bamboo and a chair, crossing rivers and sandy char lands to reach medical care. This struggle for life has become a daily reality for them.
